Description:
Seattle Pacific University seeks a Communications Specialist.
Responsibilities:
- Marketing strategy development and implementation of marketing plans for specific initiatives;
- Writing, editing, and project management for brochures, newsletters, catalogs, advertisements, web communications, etc. in concert with the University’s editorial and design standards;
- Writing for the University magazine, Response;
- The portfolio includes institutional advertising and positioning projects, academic program marketing and communications, parent communications.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in writing, journalism, English, communication, public relations, marketing, or related field;
- Three years of experience working in a publishing and/or marketing environment;
- Outstanding writing and editing skills;
- A portfolio of published writing pieces and a demonstrated familiarity with the major editorial style guides, most importantly The Associated Press Stylebook, and the ability to show samples of completed marketing projects;
- Ability to coordinate several jobs simultaneously and meet deadlines;
- Ability to work within a team setting;
- An affinity for accuracy and detail;
- A commitment to SPU’s vision and the ability to articulate it;
- And computer literate with word processing, spreadsheet, email and internet applications, especially MS Word and Excel.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of the graphic design field; experience with InCopy and Contribute.
