Dean of the College of Applied Science and Technology
Illinois State University invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the College of Applied Science and Technology. The Dean is responsible for coordinating the efforts of eight academic units (six departments and two schools – Agriculture; Criminal Justice Sciences; Family and Consumer Sciences; Health Sciences; Information Technology, Kinesiology and Recreation; Military Science and Technology) with 18 bachelor’s programs and six master’s programs. Enrollment of the College is 3100 with 145 faculty.
The Dean reports to the Vice President for Academic Affairs/Provost. Reporting to the Dean are two associate deans, six department chairs, two school directors and additional support staff. The successful candidate will provide vision and leadership as a resource manager, personnel manager, department/school advocate, and academic leader. He/she will lead an intellectually and culturally diverse community of teacher-scholars to higher levels of excellence through innovative programming and strategic partnerships. In addition, the Dean will be responsible for leading the College and Departments/Schools in expanding fund-raising activities, outreach, and public service efforts; supervising, evaluating, and supporting departments/schools in a manner that promotes excellence in instruction and research at Illinois State University; providing leadership in efforts to expand scholarship and grantsmanship; providing leadership and supervision for the College’s processes related to evaluating faculty productivity in instruction, research and service as it relates to promotion and tenure; and promoting the effective use of technology.
Qualifications:
- Earned doctorate with at least one degree in a related field represented within the College with academic achievement which merits appointment with tenure at the rank of professor.
- The candidate will have a proven record of successful administrative experience in higher education, preferably as chairperson, assistant/associate dean, or dean.
