Bates College leadership is creating an ambitious plan to increase fundraising revenues to strengthen the College’s fiscal health for the 21st century and beyond. Among key priorities, the College will depend on a growing Bates Fund for essential budget-relieving dollars to build financial aid and faculty support and decrease Bates’ dependence on tuition fees. As part of an exciting overall expansion effort for the Office of College Advancement, the Annual Giving division will be adding positions to help achieve these lofty goals, create a robust pipeline of future major benefactors, and build a stronger general culture of engagement and philanthropy among alumni and parents. Achieving these goals is critical to Bates’ overall well-being, reputation, financial position and ability to educate effectively now and in the future. The 14-member Office of Annual Giving is a collaborative, energetic, and results-driven team that implements a variety of fundraising strategies, ranging from travel and individual prospect management to volunteer programming, event management, and marketing, to achieve annual dollar and participation goals. In addition to achieving dramatic near-term growth goals, the Annual Giving team leads the College’s longstanding efforts to educate Bates students, alumni, parents, and friends about the importance of philanthropy, annual giving, and participation.
