Employee Relations Manager

The Chicago Zoological Society is seeking an experienced Employee Relations manager to join our HR team to assist the organization in being more effective by helping to align HR strategies with client business needs. The Employee Relations Manager provides employee and labor relations support by advising managers on employee and labor relations issues, serves as an advocate for staff and works to resolve employee concerns, conducts and analyzes exit interviews, conducts investigations, coordinates the disciplinary process, serves as a primary interface with the union, responds to complaints, participates in terminations, assists in policy writing and interpretation, and other HR responsibilities. Serves as an integral member of a cross-disciplinary HR team of subject matter experts, helping to plan, develop and implement workplace policies, practices, and programs to promote employee engagement, build and reinforce organizational culture, foster positive employee relations, and to improve morale, productivity, and retention. Desired Skills & Experience:

Position requires a Bachelors Degree in a relevant HR field or equivalent, 6-8+ years experience as an HR generalist, with a specific focus on employee relations, and preferably management experience. Labor relations experience is a plus. Requires solid knowledge of employment law. Must have strong communications, interpersonal skills, and conflict resolution skills, solid computer proficiency, be well organized, have an eye for detail and accuracy, and be able to handle multiple projects and priorities. Must possess sound decision-making and problem-solving skills and have a highly professional appearance and demeanor.
