J-PAL North America (J-PAL NA) is the newest regional center of J-PAL, focusing on promoting and supporting randomized evaluations in the United States and Canada. J-PAL NA seeks a Policy Analyst to contribute significantly to the design and execution of policy outreach work. Policy Analyst is a junior-level position based at MIT in Cambridge, MA.

Requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s degree with intermediate-level courses in economics, econometrics, and calculus;
  • A strong technical understanding of economics;
  • Candidates for this position should be knowledgeable about and interested in public policy issues in the U.S. and Canada.

Responsibilities include:

  • Research relationships: Working with the Policy Manager to assist in building and maintaining strong relationships with researchers working on randomized evaluations in North America.
  • Policy Publications and Analysis: Work with J-PAL NA staff to create policy memos and publications that “translate” J-PAL’s economic research into policy lessons for dissemination to policy.
  • Organizational: Assist with the management of J-PAL NA’s website; serve as point of contact and backup for senior J-PAL NA team staff; help to organize thematic or regional policy conferences and seminars; manage internal information systems like Salesforce and SharePoint.
