The Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) is recruiting a Research Manager to develop and manage J-PAL’s research support operations.  This is a mid-level position.

Requirements include:

  • A Master’s degree in economics, public policy, business, or other related fields.
  • Significant training in and a strong technical understanding of economics and econometrics is necessary.
  • At least 2-3 years of relevant economic research experience is preferred along with experience in conducting field research in developing countries with a background in randomized evaluation and knowledge of data management, econometrics, and use of STATA or other data analysis software.

This position is based in Cambridge, MA and will involve collaboration with as J-PAL’s regional offices.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate J-PAL research resources across a variety of projects and field offices;
  • Identify and leverage existing diverse resources from the J-PAL network to create standardized protocols for data collection/measurement, data cleaning, data publication, and tracking;
  • Support existing randomized impact evaluations ongoing in a variety of locations: this can include data cleaning, questionnaire review, and resource sharing; Design, manage, and analyze on M&E systems for J-PAL’s ongoing research projects.
