Who We Are:

Inflexion (formerly known as Educational Policy Improvement Center) is a nonprofit consulting group that helps educators better prepare students for life. Our mission is to make education work for all students. We give districts and schools a new way to look at themselves—with all their complexity and culture—to find ways to create a learning community with the best systems and supports to ensure all students graduate ready for college, career, and life.

What We Need:

Inflexion has an immediate opening for a full-time (.80 to 1.0 FTE) Research Associate to work out of our office in Eugene, Oregon. This position includes both research and consulting dimensions.

What You Need To Be Successful:

We are looking for a candidate driven by a desire to help improve school systems, particularly for student populations furthest from opportunity. We need an adaptive, flexible researcher who also excels at client consultation, relationship building, creative problem solving, and helping clients improve their capacities. We want someone who embraces the importance of communication and collaborative teamwork in a professional environment. We expect the incumbent to be intrinsically motivated, enthusiastic about our mission, comfortable with ambiguity, and able to balance working alone and with others. We encourage you to read through our website (www.inflexion.org) to learn more about our philosophy, values, and work portfolio.

What You Will Be Doing:

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead and/or participate on small- to medium-scale planning, applied research, and evaluation projects, to include client interaction, data collection and analysis, and translating data into understandable, actionable recommendations.
  • Co-facilitate work with district and school leadership teams on school culture, identity, planning, and comprehensive college and career readiness
  • Serve as a thought partner with your colleagues and our clients to design processes and/or studies that help mitigate problems of practice in high schools
  • Write reports and concept papers related to the Inflexion Approach and our research and consulting work with school systems
  • Develop relationships, present papers and concepts, and write proposals to expand Inflexion's business

May also

  • Conduct advanced quantitative or qualitative analyses of research and evaluation data
  • Develop new consultative tools and resources for use with school system clients
  • Become an expert in a content area (e.g., non cognitive skills, organizational behavior, improvement science) related to Inflexion's focus

What You Need To Know:

  • Experience as a high school teacher, counselor, and/or administrator is required
  • A master's degree in education or a social science is required
  • Research experience equivalent to a doctorate is a plus
  • Qualitative and mixed method research experience is a plus
  • Experience as an education or organizational consultant is a plus
  • Experience working on issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion is a plus

What We Offer:

Inflexion wages are based on a nonprofit market-based compensation scale, with the annual starting salary for this exempt position ranging from $51,667 to $62,000. Inflexion offers a highly competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, 403(b) retirement plan that incorporates base and match employer contributions, pretax medical flexible-spending, dependent care, pretax transportation, and a generous paid-time-off program.
