Purdue University Calumet The School of Education at Purdue University Calumet has the following tenure track faculty positions open: Assistant Professor in Secondary Science: The Assistant Professor in Secondary Science is a tenure track position at Purdue University Calumet. This position is a joint appointment in the Department of Teacher Preparation and the Department of Chemistry & Physics. The person in this position will be responsible for teaching courses in science methods at the secondary level as well as performing appropriate field supervision. Responsibilities will also include the teaching of introductory courses in the physical science. The ability to pursue a line of research in the areas of teacher education and the physical science is also essential. Successful candidates will hold a doctorate, as well as teacher licensure in the areas of the physical sciences. Effective communication and teaching skills, and the ability to work with professional development schools in a field-based program are essential. At least three years of successful teaching experience at the secondary school level is required. Assistant Professor in Elementary Education/Mathematics: The Assistant Professor in Elementary Education/Mathematics is a tenure track appointment at Purdue University Calumet. This position is a joint appointment in the Department of Teacher Preparation and the Department of Math, Computer Science & Statistics. The person in this position will be responsible for teaching courses in elementary mathematics content and methods as well as graduate level mathematics education courses. The ability to pursue a line of research in field of expertise, participating in service for both university departments, and working with in-service teachers is also required. Successful candidates will hold a doctorate or equivalent advanced degree in Mathematics Education (with a minimum of 12 graduate hours in mathematics) or other appropriate field. Assistant Professor in Special Education: The Assistant Professor in Special Education is a tenure track appointment in the School of Education/Department of Graduate Studies in Education at Purdue University Calumet. The person in this position will be responsible for teaching graduate level courses for service providers of students with mild and severe disabilities. Successful candidates will hold an earned doctorate in Special Education as well as teacher licensure in Special Education. At least five years experience in special educations teaching experience in public school is required as is effective communication, teaching and technology skills.
