CYTOGENETIC LABORATORY SPECIALIST I – 100%
Basic Function and Responsibilities:
To perform cytogenetic and molecular cytogenetic studies from biological specimens for the diagnosis, prevention or treatment of certain disorders under supervision.
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, a related scientific discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must have visual acuity and analytical skills to distinguish fine detail.
- Must be able to function at the required capacity to meet caseload and turn around times, including the ability to set priorities and to optimize the best use of time.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment is required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
Highly Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience in tissue culture techniques for human and other mammalian cells.
- Technical skills in cytogenetic molecular biology as well as preparing slides from tissue for examination.
- Familiarity with handling and operating digital imaging systems with various software and programs.
Desirable Qualification: Participation in scholarly activities.
