Description:

INTELLIGENCE ISN’T JUST WHAT WE DO, IT’S WHO WE ARE

The mission of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) is to provide military intelligence to warfighters, defense policymakers and force planners in the Department of Defense (DoD) and the Intelligence Community. It takes a wide variety of people with various skills and backgrounds to meet our mission. In fact, we are looking for people as diverse as America itself. If you count yourself among the nation’s best, consider the following:

SCIENTISTS

The DIA provides the highest quality and most responsive critical scientific and technical intelligence support to the three major DoD functional areas -- warfighting, force developing and policymaking. We manage and produce finished, all-source intelligence on current and future status of foreign nation’s nuclear, biological and chemical (NBC) capabilities in support of U.S. counter-proliferation efforts. DIA scientists also produce finished all-source medical intelligence to include foreign military and civilian health care capabilities and trends; worldwide infectious disease occurrence; global environmental health risks; and life science technologies.

Our scientists are engaged in the assessment of short- and long-term impacts and implications of events, public health conditions and medical capabilities on foreign military readiness and national security policy, and current medical intelligence focusing in foreign military readiness and national security policy. They provide current medical intelligence focusing on foreign medical capabilities, infectious diseases and environmental health factors. DIA scientists evaluate scientific and technological medical advances for defense against NBC warfare, as well as foreign civilian and military pharmaceutical industry capabilities. Additionally, our scientists assess and produce all-source intelligence on foreign NBC warfare, including their capabilities, intentions, policies, vulnerabilities and security. They also assess a foreign nation's ability to acquire, develop, produce or employ agents of NBC origins.

Ideal candidates possess scientific or public health-related experience, or a bachelor’s or advanced degree from an accredited college or university in biology, biochemistry, biological engineering, biotechnology, biophysics, chemical engineering, chemistry, environmental health, epidemeology, immunology, international health, microbiology, pharmacology, public health, toxicology or a closely related science discipline.

Opportunities for scientists are located primarily in Frederick, MD. Other locations include the Washington, DC metropolitan area and Huntsville, AL.

In addition to a career opportunity offering pride of mission and excellence at work, DIA employees are provided career development through many education and training programs. What’s more, DIA employees receive outstanding Federal benefits including health care coverage, group life insurance, a flexible work schedule and retirement plans that offer voluntary investment opportunities.
