Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Purdue University North Central invites nominations and applications for the position of Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. As chief academic officer of Purdue University North Central, the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs reports to the Chancellor and serves as a senior leader of the university working closely with members of the executive team. The Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs has key responsibilities for developing and implementing an academic strategic plan consistent with university goals and in accordance with community needs/ Purdue University North Central is a student-centered regional campus of Purdue University located on 268 acres in Westville, Indiana situated ten miles south of Lake Michigan and 55 miles east of Chicago. The campus is undergoing an academic transformation to a baccalaureate and masters degree granting institution. Serving students in approximately five counties in northwest Indiana, the campus has over 3900 students (2750FTE), 483 employees, including 117 full-time faculty and 173 part-time faculty, and an annual budget in excess of $35 million including an annual academic affairs budget of $15 million. Purdue University North Central offers a growing number of academic programs including two master's degrees, elementary education and business, 15 bachelor's degrees and 11 associate degrees. The Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs works closely with the Chancellor in providing overall leadership in directing the campus programs in learning, discovery and engagement. The recruitment, hiring, retention and review of an outstanding team of college deans, faculty and staff are essential functions of this position. In addition, the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs is also responsible for Career Development, Continuing Education and Accreditation and Assessment. An earned PH.D. and a minimum of five years of academic administrative experience with responsibilities at a level of dean, equivalent to dean or higher are required. A full professor rank is strongly preferred. Qualifications should include demonstrated success in teaching, administration, research, service and visionary leadership in a higher education environment as well as a record of progressive advancement. The successful applicant must have the ability to manage and lead people of diverse backgrounds; an understanding of a broad spectrum of academic programs and the ability to innovatively allocate resources to establish long term academic priorities; a strong commitment to academic excellence in learning, discovery and engagement; experience in leading academic accreditation efforts involving multiple accrediting bodies; a broad knowledge of instructional and administrative technology; and a commitment to the principles of diversity. Also required are excellent communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills. Application review will begin March 17, 2008 and continue until the position is filled.
